Homemade Febreeze Air/Fabric Refresher
How many of us have used Febreze to freshen up clothes, our car, or just the air? It’s SO easy to make your own with safe, natural ingredients and ACTUALLY Purify the Air: Febreze doesn’t purify, but only masks odors.
Febreze has a chemical that partially dissolves the odor and then the odor sticks to the chemical that is shaped like a donut. The chemical is called cyclodextrin The odors pretty much get stuck inside the donut hole of the chemical. The odor is still present but you can’t smell it anymore.
Please understand – the product does not remove odor molecules and it doesn’t clean the item it comes into contact with.
What’s also concerning is it has some eyebrow raising ingredients known to be hormone disrupters, cause breathing issues, or have negative effects on the environment. So many harmful things can be found in products designed to “freshen” and clean
Safer Febreze alternative
However, with this easy DIY, you can mix up your own “Febreeze” in minutes and use any combo of essential oils that make your nose happy, supports your health and wellness ….. and costs less than a DOLLAR to make!
There are THREE ingredients in homemade Febreeze are baking soda. essential oils and distilled water, and THAT’S IT . Compare this to Febreze (and check EWG’s review)
Add 10-12 drops of doTERRA essential oil to 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Combine well. The baking soda does a great job of keeping the oils disbursed in the water.
Once the baking soda and oils are combined, put the baking soda mixture into a 16 ounce spray bottle. Add two cups of distilled water, and shake well to dissolve the baking soda. Shake before each use.
Oil combo suggestions:
4 drops Balance, 4 drops Citrus Bliss, 3 drops Forgive
