Let's make Bubble Playdough
It’s TGI-DIY!!! Let’s make Bubble Playdough!
It’s always fun to find a DIY project to do with the boys when we’re together.
Today we made Bubble Playdough. I found several different recipes, but what we ended up adapting was the simplest of the bunch. Both of the boys got to pick out their oils. Ben chose Island Mint and Wes used Balance.
Wes is currently in the tub playing with his and lasting a surprisingly long period of time.
- 1/4 cup natural Bubble Bath
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 5-6 drops of doTERRA essential oils
- Soap colorant (optional)
In a small bowl combine bubble bath & coconut oil. Add 1/2 cup cornstarch and essential oils & soap colorant if using; work together. Knead with your hands and add in more cornstarch until it reaches the desired consistency. We had to add in a little more cornstarch to get it to a play-dough consistency.
We didn’t have any colorant, so we just skipped it. If I was making this for a gift, it would be fun to make a couple different colors. Store in jar or other airtight container.
To use, give child the desired amount of bubble playdough to play with in the tub. It gets bubbly when it gets wet and disintegrates. Kiddos can form shapes with it, wash with it — whatever they’d like
