Most people I meet are looking for ways to increase their energy.
I bet we’ve all looked at littles running around and said, “I wish I had their energy.” Add in chronic illness, and you’ve probably got a huge energy deficit to fill.
Sugar and caffeine are poor choices – we may feel good for a few minutes, but the crash drops our energy lower than it was to begin with AND sugar adds to our inflammatory issues. Over in my Chronically Amazing Facebook group, we’ve been talking about natural ways to increase our energy, things that work with our body and improve our overall health and wellness. I didn’t want to neglect talking to you all about a super easy secret weapon for more energy that also smells di-vine.
Citrus essentials oils can elevate the mood and boost the spirits.
Back before I had incorporated many of these natural options into my routine, I was dragging ALL.DAY.LONG. I could barely get up off the couch to shower. For those familiar with the Spoon Theory, I was out of spoons before I even got started. Adding in using citrus oils made a huge difference, now this is just one component, but an important one, and easy to implement.
All citrus oils contain healing antioxidant terpenes such as limonene. Lemon, for example, supports healthy blood pressure and can also help to support a healthy liver − leading to less toxicity and more overall energy for you!
You probably know that a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning can help hydrate and cleanse your body. Instead of using acidic lemon juice, try adding 1-2 drops of doTERRA lemon essential oil. Using lemon essential oil in your morning water gets your day off to a good start by helping to cleanse your system and energize your brain. By using essential oil instead of juice you also protect your teeth from enamel damage associated with the acid in lemon juice. Score!
Citrus oils (such as Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Tangerine, Wild Orange, Bergamot) are THE TICKET to use aromatically for getting you moving and helping you feel energized. They are my absolute favorite to diffuse. It’s amazing how quickly aromatherapy works to increase focus and help me to feel like tackling my to-do list. Plus, they are champs at keeping the air clean and keeping us from catching the crud that other people may bring into our space. I love it when people walk into my home and say “OH! It smells SO GOOD in here!!” I know that they are enjoying the aroma, I’m taking care of their health AND they’ll feel upbeat and energized. All for a few cents.
Here are a couple power-blends to use in your diffuser to beat the “I can’t seem to get up off the couch” energy blues:
4 drops Lime
2 drops Grapefruit
2 drops Bergamot
5 drops Wild Orange
2 drops Peppermint
It’s gonna be a Sunshiny Day
4 drops Bergamot
2 drops Frankincense
5 drops Lemon
2 drops Grapefruit
