5 benefits of Golden MilkGolden Milk is a delicious way too improve your overall wellbeing

A traditional Indian drink, golden milk (sometimes called turmeric milk), is an infusion of turmeric  and other spices in milk. It has some very specific health benefits but is also an excellent general health tonic. (and it’s pretty darn tasty too)

Let me show you a SUPER easy way to prepare it and share with you a few of the ways it can benefit your overall health and wellness.

Spoonies take note – this is a great addition to your nighttime routine.

    1. Supports your immune system. This is especially useful as we roll into cold & flu season. A daily cup of golden milk can help you avoid the crud that run rampant this time of year. And, if you are dealing with an auto-immune issue, anything that helps balance out our immune response improves our overall health. That’s HUGE in my book.
    1. Helps with restful sleep. Turmeric supports the brain’s production of serotonin, helping us relax, de-stress and sleep better.
    1. Offers respiratory support. Turmeric can increase mucus production, acting like an expectorant and flushing out anything trying to get a foothold in the respiratory tract.
    1. Excellent digestive help. Turmeric helps ease discomfort from gas and bloating as well as heartburn. And since it supports overall gut health we see benefits in every area of our health – such as skin health. Those with ongoing skin issues could find relief with a daily cup of golden milk.
  1. Supports a healthy inflammatory response. Again, this can cover a wide range of issues, but specifically if you deal with muscle and joint discomfort, sipping a cup of golden milk every day could ease that discomfort.

essential oils for golden milk

So are you ready to learn a quick and simple way to make Golden Milk? By pairing essential oils and spices, you’ll get amazing depth of flavor and have it ready in no time.  PLUS you get additional benefits from the Cinnamon Bark and Ginger that we haven’t even covered here. Win-Win for sure.

You may have heard the recommendation to take turmeric with black pepper and a fat to increase the body’s ability to absorb curcumin. Because we are using the essential oil instead of the spice, we aren’t dealing with curcumin. In fact, according to doTERRA, turmeric oil contains the chemical components ar-Turmerone and Turmerone which have been shown to help our bodies with the absorption of curcumin. By pairing the oil and spice together, the health benefits increase substantially.  If you don’t have the ground turmeric, make this recipe anyway!! You’ll still get amazing benefits with just the oils – though it won’t have that beautiful golden color.

Golden Milk

    • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk, my favorite is toasted coconut milk, but use what you like!
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey (local honey if possible)

Whisk ingredients together and heat in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

HINT- If using a drop each of the essential oils is too strong for you, try combining the three essential oils in an empty oil bottle and then you can use 1 or 2 drops of the mixture per serving.  You can also make larger batches.  It will keep for several days.  You can get all the oils you need HERE – includes 1 year 25% discount too. Works out to be just about 55 cents a cup!

If you make this delicious concoction, I want to hear what you think! Share your thoughts in the comments.  Need oils? Let’s talk!
